The formula to develop power by airflow: One CFM intake port airflow can produce .27 HP per cylinder or 2.16 HP in a V8 engine. Increasing intake port air flow by 27 CFM with .500 lift camshaft can increase power by 58.32 HP. (27 CFM x.27 x 8 Cylinders = 58.32 HP) Porting Modifications to the cylinder head and intake manifold that flow 276 CFM through the intake port can produce 596 Horsepower. This power can be developed with the right camshaft profile and compression ratio along with the required amount of exhaust port flow.

Exhaust Port Flow
